Hello -
I came across this article this morning. A rather scathing one and very misguided in my opinion. I need forum users' help to support Gravel:

The above article also references this article:

The Author of that Diatribe is Completely Psycho!
Submitted on May 13th, 2008 by JaywinCheck out the vile, babbling rant the author went on against DebbieKat. She called DebbieKat every name in the book....what a complete whackjob!
I guess its another good reason why we should have Mike Gravel as President...so we can have a healthcare system where people like the woman who wrote that article against Gravel will be able to get their meds.

Oh, Man...
Submitted on May 14th, 2008 by RipplesShe attacked Ross today too under "More on Mike Gravel."
Just a thoroughly hateful, abusive person.
Indeed. My sister and I had that conversation about health care during the last election. Crazy becomes more and more the norm when you have such an inadequate system. And, well....the craziest become just unreachable. Some of them ended up in the White House in 2000.
I couldn't believe
Submitted on May 14th, 2008 by DebbieKatshe threatened ratting me out to my employer! I'd make a comment, but she's just too crazy for my liking. Again, her response was WAY out of line based on what I originally posted, which she simply deleted. My second post was just a comment that I posed a thoughtful response to her blog and it got deleted. After the second post got deleted, I simply said censorship was un-American, which I think she left up. I cannot believe the vile vitriolic response she made. I didn't bring up ANY of the issues she spoke of. Definitely some mental illness there.
Wow...
Submitted on May 13th, 2008 by DebbieKatI hadn't been back to that site until I saw your post here. There was absolutely NOTHING in my original post that said anything remotely close to what she is talking about. What a freaking nut. And I'm stalking her because I made 3 comments on her blog? Nice. What a whackjob. And, not that it matters, but I'm Jewish myself. Apparently, I'm one of those self-hating jews. Ha.
Your first post was great.
Submitted on May 14th, 2008 by RipplesApparently, a little TOO good.
E-mail addresses won't be posted, but IP addresses WILL??? Nice.
Thank you!
Submitted on May 14th, 2008 by DebbieKatI'm glad someone had an opportunity to witness what I wrote, so it is known how truly insane her response was. :-)

Submitted on May 14th, 2008 by HitsumeiDebbieKat, the neocon from that blog is truly insane. You didn't deserve such nasty comments.
It's bad enough that conservative Muslims think I am a self-hating Muslim simply because I acknowledge what's the trouble with Islam today (lack of debate when one sees the way gays, Salman Rushdie, people who change religions etc. are treated and when I tell people that Islam is not perfect and that the Quran is not a perfect book, but merely divinely inspired, written by man and incarnating the best and worst in man and limiting itself to a particular era and a particular region, just like any other holy book).
Yes, I am self-critical.
I've seen too much insanity in many ways (eg. evangelicals who would think that I am not a Muslim because I am peaceful. I've also seen incredibly complacent people who want me to believe in the notion of gradual change, I've also people who have suddenly become pro-war, people who are jingoistic and blindly support a country's government, people who believe that a democratic party label will change things and bring unicorns, people who become incredibly xenophobic, hypocritical and nativist...).
God forbid if that neocon found out if I was a liberal Muslim with unitarian leanings.
I got really angry because I have a friend in Israel who I'm worried about if there is a war in Iran, I have met peaceful Israelis and Palestinians through OneVoice, and I personally asked Mike Gravel on issues like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Cyprus and Kashmir. I swear that Gravel is the only person who will ensure the survival of Israel, create a Palestinian State and have a real two-State solution.
So I felt insulted by that vitriolic neocon because I really think that Gravel is the most pro-Israeli candidate in this election (ie supporting the average citizen). Gravel doesn't support Hamas. That woman can't tell the difference between talking to an entity and supporting an entity.
These people have a black and white vision of the world that is frankly scary. There is a lot of gray.
Dialogue is not a reward. It is a remedy. When will the neocons realize that?
My comment was deleted, but I decided that she was pointless to talk to because she reminds me of the evangelicals who believe that Muslims are condemned to hate Jews (yes, these nutcases use the Bible to justify the existence of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict).
And yet, I'm a Muslim who doesn't resent Jews and who doesn't resent Israelis. So I think the beliefs the evangelicals embrace would be contradicted if they ever saw me, but at the same time, they would deny my existence and assume that I'm not a real Muslim...-_-
I am convinced that the Israelis and the Palestinians realize that representative government is broken on both sides.
Islam has a lot of issues to deal with (eg. I am one of the few who supports homosexuals from same-sex marriage to adoption, and my LGBT friends can tell you that) and there is a need for intellectual debate in the religion. But to paint everything in black with a brush of hopelessness and demonization is horrific.
Very insightful post Hitsumei
Submitted on May 14th, 2008 by DebbieKatI agree with all that you have said. I dislike running across people like this neocon b/c they are so hate-filled and irrational. Israelis and Palestinians are more alike than different in the long run. And, like you and I have both said, dialog will lead to peace, not ignoring each other.
With any hope, people like that are the very small minority. She must be part of that 23% (or whatever it is now) that still approves of Bush. :-)
all I can say is ...
Submitted on May 13th, 2008 by arpidoodleBRAVO Mr. Gravel !!!!!!!!!
If we go back to basics, we find the definition of a Republic is: 'a state or country that governs itself by Law' - and that is what the U.S. has become - Gravel is seeking to usurp those who enact law to favor a chosen few. That's what the NI4D is about. It is a fundamental creation, or piece of legislation, (or piece of history) that will put the law into the hands of all people - specifically designed to circumvent the abuse of power that has been rampaging for decade upon decade.
Mike talks about how it could be applied to promote it in very broad terms, but, the essence of its' being is in preventing abuse from within.
I checked the above links - the people complaining about Gravel are the same ones using the law for other than the common good. And they are nervous. They should be more than nervous. They've had things their way all the way and they see a 'spoiler' on the horizon.
That spoiler isn't Mike Gravel: .... the guilty shall flee where no man pursueth ...
The spoiler is Justice
I posted a response.
Submitted on May 12th, 2008 by HitsumeiI posted a response. Considering that Gravel told me that he is even going to consult the people of conflict-torn areas to settle land disputes (whether it's Israel and Palestine, whether it's Cyprus, whether it's Kashmir), I found this article really disgusting.

My comment on the blog site
Submitted on May 13th, 2008 by DebbieKatwas deleted. All I did was disagree with the blogger. Nothing offensive. I HATE those who favor censorship in favor of absence of dissention. How perfectly awful. Neocons really do suck.

Submitted on May 13th, 2008 by HitsumeiOh God...they deleted my comment O_O That site is so fascist it's not even funny.
Gravel's release of the Pentagon Papers was the most pro-American thing to do because it helped Americans discover the truth about the Vietnam war and the lies the government was spouting.
These neocons are so stupid that they can't tell the difference between talking to a group and supporting a group.
Gravel gives credit to people when it's due, it doesn't matter who that person is.
Fact: Blair had the courage to talk to the IRA to achieve peace in Northern Ireland in 1998 to end a long period of British-Irish enmity, but it didn't mean that he was pro-IRA. He was just using love, patriotism, courage and common sense to bring peace.
And I see the same thing in Gravel when he says that one needs to talk to Hamas to get peace in that part of the world. Gravel cares about the Israelis and the Palestinians who are trying to live ordinary and peaceful lives.
Listen, what Gravel fears the most is a Pakistani nuclear missile destroying Israel (during a nuclear world war against Iran), and he feels like the current Israeli government is self-destructive. I really wanted to write a comment because Gravel is NOT pro-Hamas, and it sickens me to read such garbage from the internet.
Gravel is the most pro-Israeli candidate in this election.
Hillary, Obama and McCain want to satisfy the evangelicals who want the end of the world to take place in Israel...-_-
A war in Iran is the most anti-Israeli thing to do (Obama, McCain and Hillary all support that, and they're theocrats...).
I personally want to visit Israel one day, and it would be very tragic if Hillary, Obama and McCain went to war against Iran and let Israel be destroyed because of their psychosis.
I read a comment where we were compared to Ron Paul supporters.
I don't believe in a personal Jesus, I am not bigoted, and I don't lie to myself (that's what Ron Paul supporters generally do. It's a cult movement that is bigoted). So I frankly found that insulting.
I am just disgusted because they don't understand Gravel's position at all.
They think that being one-sided and supporting one side blindly and demonizing the other side blindly is going to bring peace. That will never bring peace.
Gravel has a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Hillary, Obama and McCain don't have any solution aside from continuing and intensifying the vicious cycle of violence on both sides.

Submitted on May 12th, 2008 by DebbieKatYes, I know. Absolutely awful. They have Gravel on their front page. I've never read such tripe as what I see on this website. Slimy. Even wikipedia seems to have nothing good to say about it. Yuk. An online magazine for neocons.
